Charlie woke up to the sun shining brightly across her room.
She slowly sat up.
She took one big sniff and smelt the delicious , crispy , golden scones that her mum had made her for breakfast. She could even hear the beater whipping the cream.
As her mum yelled out her name from the stairs Charlie remembered something, something big. “It’s Sunday!” screamed Charlie.
Sunday was a special day for Charlie. Today is Valentines Day.
Every year Charlie looks forward to selling flowers at the Valentine Festival and every year she sells loads and loads of flowers to young and old people.
She sells roses, daisies, sunflowers, frangipanis, tulips and buttercups. She even makes pretty love heart wreaths made out of red and white roses to hang up around the place. Charlie gathered up all her gear and jumped in the car and soon they were on their way.
Charlie arrived at the festival feeling proud and excited she couldn't wait to get selling.
She chose to set up by the river next to the ice-cream van.
Her mum had packed a dozen yummy scones with whipped cream and home-made jam as well as freshly squeezed orange juice.
Charlie was setting up her shade shelter while eating one of her mum’s crispy delicious scones.
She spread the fluffy whipped cream and the home-made jam over the scone. Charlie took a small bite into it. The scone crunched in her mouth the cream dissolved and the jam squished between her teeth.
All of a sudden there was a cool breeze it started to get stronger. Charlie's flowers started to blow away her stomach was turning in fright.
Many petals faded away in the wind.
Charlie looked up to see a black cloud hovering above.
The river was no longer crystal clear it went dark grey. Charlie and everybody else at the festival started packing up.
Charlie's mum realised what was happening at the festival, she raced to the car.
It started to pour rain, Charlie was getting saturated.
Charlie quickly folded up the shade shelter, they packed up and went.
By this time it looked like night because the sky was so dark she could hear thunder and see flashes of lightning, the wind was getting even stronger. It picked up branches and carried them with the wind.
Charlie struggled to get out the car, she was trying to open the house door it slammed shut as they walked in.
Charlie was a bit upset because this was her favourite time of year.
Unfortunately they didn't postpone the festival that year but a week went by and the sun was shining beautiful as usual so Charlie decided to set up her own store at the Saturday markets and sold loads and loads of flowers to young and old people.
Charlie's family spent the rest of the afternoon eating delicious, crispy scones with whipped cream , home-made jam and drinking orange juice.
