Dear Family Members,
Homework has been designed to assist your child with practising skills taught at school in an independent way so that they can refine their understandings and develop competence and confidence in their skills. Homework is not compulsory and should not cause anxiety or distress for you or your child. Should this develop please contact me immediately so that we can discuss and modify the situation.
Homework in 5/6 T has been designed for two different levels - Year 5 students focusing on applying skills and concepts learnt at school to new situations, with development of proficiency as a target. We will focus strongly on knowing spelling rules, number facts and developing our ability to research. Year 6 students will be focusing on High School readiness, a term diary will be issued each term for your child to practice organising themselves and allocating work on a daily basis to ensure completion of each task. We will revise times table knowledge, note taking skills and understanding work requirements.
Homework will be assigned every two weeks starting Term 2, Week 2 (5th May).
